Cross-Border Passenger Traffic of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway Surpasses 20 Million This Year
With the in-depth advancement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development, the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway, known as the "golden artery" of regional connectivity, continues to release development vitality. As of August 21, the line has transported more than 20 million cross-boundary passengers this year, including 5.039 million during the summer travel peak, setting a record since its opening. Regional factor flows have shown a new trend of "two-way travel and high-frequency interaction."
From January 1 to August 21, the line carried a total of 20.088 million cross-boundary passengers, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%. Among them, 5.039 million passengers travelled during the summer peak period between July 1 and August 21, with a daily average of nearly 100,000, up 15.9% year-on-year.
It is worth noting that Shenzhen, as one of the core transport hubs of the Greater Bay Area, plays a key role in cross-boundary transportation. Passengers travelling from Hong Kong to Shenzhen accounted for 38.4% of the total inbound mainland passenger volume, while those travelling from Shenzhen to Hong Kong made up 38.8% of the total outbound mainland flow. The "dual-city lifestyle" is gradually becoming a daily choice for Greater Bay Area residents.
